eDiscovery Leaders Live: Mike Quartararo of ACEDS

Mike Quartararo, President of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), joins George Socha, Senior Vice President of Brand Awareness at Reveal-Brainspace, for ACEDS #eDiscoveryLeadersLive sponsored by Reveal.

ACEDS is a global professional association for individuals and organizations in the private and public sectors who work in the fields of eDiscovery, information governance, compliance, and the broader legal community.

Before taking on the role of President at ACEDS, Mike served as Managing Director at eDPM Advisory Services, where he focused on project management in eDiscovery. Previously, he was also the Director of Litigation Support Services at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan and, before that, he worked at Skadden.

Mike is the author of Project Management in Electronic Discovery: An Introduction to Core Principles of Legal Project Management and Leadership In eDiscovery (2016).

Listen in as Mike speaks about ACEDS, recent developments, and upcoming changes. Perhaps of greatest interest, for many, are the revision to the CEDS exam and what the revisions mean for how to study for the updated exam as well as the possibility of new versions of the CEDS exam for different countries with different legal systems.

Key Highlights

●       Mike describes the recent updates made to the CEDS exam.

●       With these changes in the exam, are there changes in the resources used to prepare for the exam?

●       How did the process for taking the exam change when the pandemic began?

●       What developments can we expect from ACEDS in the near future?

Powerful Quotes by Mike Quartararo

●       Collection is collection. There is no legal component to collection. It’s about doing the handful of things you need to get right. Same with processing: You may use a different tool but we’re not testing on tools; we’re testing on processes.

●       We’re focused on education. We’re focused on certification. Certainly, by having a partner, there is some level of endorsement there. But [...] I believe that there is plenty of room in this space for everyone, whether that’s a service provider, a law firm, a software company, or other industry associations.
