ILTACON 2021: What to Expect

ILTACON 2021, one of the major annual legal tech gatherings, is coming. Offered as a hybrid event by ILTA, or the International Legal Technology Association, it will be the legal industry's first such conference this year.

The 4 1/2 day conference will start on Sunday, August 22, and run through Thursday, August 24, with an abundance of programs, educational content, and networking opportunities. The in-person portion will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV and there will be a digital component for those who are unable to attend in-person.

Here is a quick run-down of what to expect. We hope to see you soon!

Health and Safety

ILTA is placing a strong emphasis on health and safety at the conference. To help in-person participants understand what is required of them, ILTA has created a Health & Safety Hub.

Vaccination: All attendees, exhibitors, and ITLA must be vaccinated, no exceptions. To gain access to the session rooms and exhibit hall, you must provide proof that you got fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days before arriving at the conference.

Masks: As of this post, masks are required for ILTACON attendees, etc. Following requirements and guidance from the CDC, the Governor of Nevada, the Southern Nevada Health District guidance, the Clark County Commissioners, and the Nevada Gaming Control Board, ILTA is requiring that masks be worn by ILTACON attendees.

Room capacity: The general session room will be limited to 583 people and educational session rooms to 250. Demo room capacity restrictions will vary depending on room size and set-up, but the basic idea is to accommodate 3-foot social distancing.

Additional recommendations include 3-foot social distancing, no handshakes, no hugs, and no entry into the show area if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms.

Education

The conference will offer more than 60 educational sessions in 5 concurrent tracks, presented by more than 175 speakers. Three of the tracks will be in-person and webinar streamed; the other two, in-person only.

Educational Sessions

Sunday evening you can get a jump start on educational content, with five collaboration kick-off sessions, all from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

The next four days there be three sets of educational sessions per day:

  • Monday - Wednesday: 11 am - 12:30 pm; 2:30 - 3:30 pm; and 4 - 5 pm.
  • Thursday: 9 - 10 am; 11 am - 12:15 pm; and 2:30 - 3:30 pm.

The educational sessions will cover 19 areas of focus:

ILTA Leadership

Putting on a program like ILTACON is a massive undertaking, with planning taking the better part of a year. The conference's leadership, which leans heavily to the law firm side, must shape the conference,

This year's program chairs, team coordinators, and committee members are listed on the Conference Committee page. ILTACON 2021's co-chairs are Martha Breil of Cooley LLP and Michael Viscito of Seyfarth Shaw LLP; it's a miracle they managed to get anything else done in the year leading up to the event.

The ILTACON Team Coordinators likewise must have put in countless hours to get this year's conference ready for the rest of us:

Sponsors

As anyone involved in putting on these types of programs knows only too well, no conference is possible without financial support. We at Reveal are proud to be one of the many organizations sponsoring this year's ILTACON, helping ensure the success of ILTACON 2021.
